Fritz may be making some moves...

Let me explain...

because it is a long story

There is a question friends and acquaintances alike ask me frequently: Do you think you will ever run for anything? 

The question always catches me off-guard, but I understand why they ask. It's because I'm passionate about my beliefs. I've been following Politics and American History for a long time now, almost as though I have an affinity for them. 

In thinking about running for a position in politics, there are a plethora of conflicting thoughts, including what party would I run under, what office would I seek, what would be my overall goals, and others.



What also comes to mind is how divisive and dirty politics can become. I would want no part in driving any smear campaigns or engaging in nasty rhetoric--and it actually serves as a motivator to enter the political sphere.

One of my favorite lines from the Declaration of Independence is one you're probably familiar with: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. If I had to modernize it, I would change "men" to "people," and that is literally it.

That phrase is so powerful and yet we're still falling incredibly short in striving toward honoring it.

The Issues

One of my foremost policy positions is returning to a Limited Federal Government.

The Federal Government has expanded beyond it's primary responsibilities, which in turn breeds inefficiencies and causes all focuses to become over-bloated, inefficient and unaccountable. There are over 330 Million Americans--the Federal Government can't cover all the bases. 

I believe State empowerment is more accountable and efficient than Federal Government.

  Every four years American's are especially fearful of who may end up in the White House, but we elect a President, not a dictator. I will push for limiting use of the Executive Order, and push for the Executive Branch to return to its original responsibilities: executing legislation as passed by both chambers of congress. 

This would also push to restore erosions in the House and the Senate where "nuclear options" have changed the rules time and time again to allow the ruling party to be improperly empowered and push through legislation and end practices such as the filibuster.

When the founders drafted The Bill of Rights they did so outside of the actual constitution in fear that people would believe the rights were being granted by the Government, rather than being unalienable--natural, inherent and self-evident. 

When I think of this matter, this is how I explain it: the Bill of Rights is non-negotiable. These are the most important rights in which the Government is supposed to safeguard for us. 

And among the most important of them is often the most ignored: the 9th and 10th Amendment. 

The 9th Amendment says: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people (Your rights are limitless).

The 10th Amendment says: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people (The government does not have the power if it hasn't been ratified in the Constitution).

Taxes are one of the most complicated things Americans deal with in their lives. From Federal Income Taxes to State Income Taxes, Social Security to Property and Sales taxes, and even into Tax Exemptions and Tax Credits--think about this, there is a whole industry that thrives on being the tax people for companies and individuals--and they lobby to keep it that way. 

Some of my Libertarian kin may scoff at me for not waving the banner of taxation is theft, but in talking about taxes, we can realize that the structure, and the amount, are grossly abused. 

While I would fight for lower taxes, especially in terms of the Personal Income Tax (which I do find as theft and hurtful toward especially low wage-earners), I would also fight on another often ignored front: accountability. 

If taxes are to be collected and funds used, we need to ask: Is the program necessary; Is it cost-effective; Is it efficient.

If 2020 proved anything to us, it is that our voting system must be open to reforms. This includes clear and transparent processes, and multiple methods for voters to utilize, especially in-person voting. 

We need to re-establish trust in our voting systems, including foolproof machines, certified mail-in/absentee balloting, and affording every opportunity to the voter to be motivated to participate in a system that they can trust. 

My plan is to propose Election Week, where we will at least have 2-3 days with polling locations open for in-person machine voting, in-person private ballot filling stations, and in-person mail-in/absentee ballot drop-off. States should be permitted to count and tally these votes and ballots at the end of every day. 

The Coalition For Daylight Savings Permanence (CFDSTP) is a concept I have that is completely void of any partisanship. Silly as it may seem, while I am partially joking about it, many Americans grow tired of our practice of Daylight Savings Time, or more specifically, they are fed up with the constant change. 32 states have some type of proposal or legislation standing by, and I believe we can move together and compromise on this issue. END THE TIME JUMPS! ENACT PERMANENT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS! JOIN THE CFDSTP!

The world has seen some vast changes over time, yet somehow the images of rows of desks lined up in front of a chalkboard, the ancient relic known as Schooling, has hardly changed over the span of decades. 

Simply granting more money to the educational system completely ignores the problem: we have evolved--the system has not. 

Schools should be providing kids with social development, skills and trade training, and most importantly moving away from any kind of standardized testing and one-size-fits-all curriculum. For our children to truly learn and thrive, we must remove the extreme pressures of schooling and stop turning the institution into the focal point of their lives (think about how children go to school for 8-hours a day, and are given 3-4 hours of homework on top of extracurricular activities--too many expectations, too much taking away from their family and social life). We have to let kids be kids, and find new ways to nourish their growing and developing minds and interests.

Criminal Justice Overhaul

One of the largest hot-topics to date is Criminal Justice Reform, but that is an understatement. We need a complete Criminal Justice Overhaul.

We need to all agree that a crime isn't a crime if it has no victim. Drug possession or even drug use alone isn't enough to constitute a crime, which is why at the very least all drugs should be decriminalized, and many argue should be completely legalized. The focus must change from incarceration and punishment, to wellness and rehabilitation. 

This also includes demilitarization of the Police forces, restoring community-led policing, revisiting "qualified immunity" (which branches beyond just police matters), and restructuring our Prison system. 

Of the three branches of Government, the Judicial has the highest approval, but that approval hovers around just above 50%. We need to restore and build off that trust, and fortify the dignity of the courts.
